Virgin Media Broadband Featuring Usain Bolt and Richard Branson
This was the first of 3 so far of 30 second ads released in the first few weeks of January all of which feature Usain Bolt and Richard Branson. By quickly looking at the first few seconds of these ads you can see the Usain Bolt is impersonating Richard Branson who find Usain in his office and starts to lightly kick up a fuss. The use of both personalities and Usain’s blonde goatee add some delightful humour to the series of ads. The ads themselves are to promote the new super fast broadband available in the UK for Virgin Media customers. This is where the audience starts to understand Usain Bolt fronting this £million new campaign (Usain Bolt being the fastest sprinter in the world) in addition to the superstars the campaign also happens to be directed by Seth Gordon (director of Horrible bosses(2011))
DDB London are behind the creative yet simple idea for this Virgin Media campaign, they are also responsible for helping to introduce the future strap line for the global brand “Keep Up”. Which we expect to see on many more ads in the future.
