Emotion is at the heart of many advertisements these day I personally enjoy it I think it says something about how society has changed in the past decades. This ad created by W+K for Procter and Gamble to show their support and sponsorship of the London Olympics. I think it is great how they show mum’s across the world encouraging and doing what they do best, this being said I think its important to point out that house-husbands do just as much hard work as mothers and deserve a little credit as well.

On studying for a exam I found that when Wispa was relaunched in 2008, the campaign surrounding its come back was important to the power of social media and the creativity in marketing.
I’ve found that in the run up to launching the brand, Cadbury created a PR campaign as well as it popular and genius advertising campaign. The PR agency, Borkowski PR, created a buzz in the press and online created a whirlwind campaign which I was unaware of. Borkowski put the first box of Cadbury Wispa bars on Ebay for people to bid for, this created the first in a series of interesting and newsworthy communications between the brand and consumers. The second step was give a select few journalist secret dossier briefing packs to get the newspapers and magazines talking about the Relaunch of Wispa. The third step (my personal favourite) was to give stores and the people delivering the chocolate security guards to ensure no one would damage or steal the sought after chocolate bars.
This campaign lead to numerous awards and press coverage worth over £1.4 million in addition to the hundreds of thousands of people aware of the relaunch of the Cadbury Wispa. Although this campaign is 4 years old it still amazes me that such creativity and determination lead to this amount of success

The lickable life
WORLD’S FIRST LICKABLE LIFT
The doors have opened on the first ever lick-able lift in a unique advertising campaign targeting the taste buds of city workers.
McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes has taken inspiration from Willy Wonka, Heston Blumenthal and Damien Hirst to create a Spot of Jaffa – edible elevator artwork comprising of 1,325 lick-able Jaffa Cakes.
The unique advertising campaign has taken food technicians and artists four weeks to develop and will be installed in a central London office block until Friday (13th April).
The edible elevators are being trialled at Engine on Great Portland Street, a communications group with over 800 staff, with a view to rollout the activity in offices across the country.
Philippa Tilley, Senior Brand Manager from McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes, comments:
“We are all about bringing a bit more fun to life and this was the perfect way to get a little joy straight to stressed out office workers. We hope the lifts raise a smile, give people a taste for Jaffa Cakes and encourages them to go and buy a pack for the office.”

I LOVE ambient advertising - if done correctly it can really get a brand out there. Above are a few new ones i found while trawling the net.
1. Ambient advert using an overhead mirror on the tube for a hair company in Canada. Ff you didn’t feel self conscious about your balding head, then you do now!
2. Ambient advert on a bowling ball in Germany promoting a horror themed TV channel. Not sure i would want to stick my fingers in there!
3. Ambient advert in New York promoting Jamaica as a holiday destination. If only getting away somewhere was as easy as jumping through a brick wall!
4. This is my favourite! Any girl knows that if you wear a skirt/dress/shorts and have been sitting on a pattern chair then its going to print on your legs! A clothing company in New Zealand had their shorts sale put onto chairs so that it left prints on legs. Fantastic!

EDF Energy feel better
I both like and dislike this ad. I know it sounds ridiculous, but its true, I like the idea of a cute little peanut type character is casually bopping around to a song with a line about electric dreams. I don’t however understand what any of that has to do with an energy company, maybe i’m being daft but this is the sole reason I don’t like it. A new blue +price promise, feeling better, Low carbon generation, where does a little bopping peanut have any relation to anything energy or carbon related??
Nice try EDF Energy but your not fooling me.

Sony Xperia
I love these types of adverts, the imagination of a child beats all other types of creativity in my opinion. Its so simple and obvious, the Toy Story themes, what happens when no one is looking ideas. We all wondered what our toys got up to when we went to school, this plays on the same idea. How do smart phones, smart TVs work? Without thinking about the electrical components inside. It would be great to think little robots work inside all of our electrical devices from phones, TVs to hair dryers and washing machines or is that pushing it.
Anyway…
The use of child creativity and imagination teamed with simple and clever animation with the addition of the child narrater makes this advert. I hope everyone likes the subtlety and simpleness of this as much as I do.

The National Lottery aired a brand new advert yesterday (march 4th), and i must say its the most moving thing i have seen in a while. It is inspired from the wartime experiences of a real life soldier named Private Jack Jennings during WW2. The National Lottery have been contributing money to war veterans and projects for many years now and have changed so many peoples lives.
This advert is so moving and really did bring a tear to my eye, it is beautifully done and gives you a sense of pride, as well as sadness.

The charming new film - The Swan - tells the story of how the cutting-edge Audi concept vehicles of the 1920s have progressed into the stunning and aerodynamically efficient cars of today.
I love this advert its subtle and impressive. It hits a note of tradition, design, and the future.

Okay so maybe these are a little late on the blogging thing considering they’re from 2011 but I still think they’re amazing the design, concept, catchiness, everything. Toyota Yaris is also a car I wouldn’t mind having.
Above is the first of a series there are 3 in total, and another that is in the same concept and brilliance but lacks the ultra cool animated rapped/rappers.

So this is a local furniture store in my local area Sofa King, It has been running for 8 years, in which they have frequently ran ads on the local radio and in local newspapers and magazines with the phrase “With Prices Sofa king low”. This has cause many giggles and smiles in other 9 years and only complained by a few to the local police, so the obvious or not so obvious similarities between Sofa King and the ever popular swear word ‘fuck’. However some people of my local town (big enough to be a city) have complained to the Advertising Standard Authority (ASA, British Controller of advertising), to which the complaint has been upheld. This means our airwaves and local newspapers and magazine will no longer home to the “Prices Sofa King low” slogan… (what a shame). This local furniture store will now have to find a now slogan or other means of accessing audience with the slogan.
